About this condition
Syngamiasis is a rare parasitic infection caused by worms that attach to the respiratory tract, typically transmitted by consuming raw or undercooked infected birds or contaminated food. The worms cause persistent cough, throat irritation, and breathing difficulty as they attach to the trachea or bronchi. Extremely rare in India, it is mainly reported in individuals with unusual dietary exposures.
