About this condition
Spirillosis, also known as rat-bite fever, is a bacterial infection that develops after a bite or scratch from infected rodents or consuming contaminated food or water. It typically causes sudden fever, chills and a rash appearing a few days after exposure. Early antibiotic treatment prevents complications affecting the heart and joints.
