About this condition
This is a life-threatening bacterial infection that causes rapid tissue death in the genital and perineal area. It progresses very quickly and requires emergency surgery and antibiotics to remove dead tissue and control infection. Common risk factors include diabetes, recent surgery, and immune system problems.
