About this condition

Chronic obstructive pyelonephritis is a long-term kidney infection caused by repeated blockages in the urinary tract, such as from kidney stones or structural abnormalities. The obstruction prevents urine from draining properly, leading to bacterial growth, scarring, and progressive kidney damage. Early treatment with antibiotics and removal of the obstruction is essential to prevent kidney failure.
