About this condition
Bubonic plague is a serious bacterial infection spread by fleas from infected rodents. It causes painful swelling of lymph nodes (buboes), typically in the groin, armpit or neck, along with high fever. Without prompt antibiotic treatment, it can be life-threatening and spread to other parts of the body.
