About this condition

XYY syndrome occurs in males born with an extra Y chromosome (47,XYY instead of 46,XY), usually causing no serious health problems. Boys may be taller than average and some experience mild learning difficulties or speech delays, but most live completely normal lives. Many individuals are never diagnosed as symptoms are often minimal or absent.
