Filariasis
ModerateAbout this condition
Lymphatic filariasis is endemic in parts of India, transmitted by mosquitoes. Parasitic worms block lymph vessels causing chronic leg swelling and thickened skin (elephantiasis). Early treatment with medications can kill the worms but established swelling may be permanent. Mosquito control helps prevent transmission.
